| The Weather Alerts Module provides the following capabilities: |
|
| |
Integrated weather information sources
The Weather Alerts Module integrates with the National Weather Service’s Emergency Managers Weather Information Network (NWS EMWIN) and other XML-based weather data feeds. |
| |
Automatic customized monitoring of specific weather conditions
Operators can set parameters for the types of weather situations that qualify as emergencies, for specific geographical areas. For example, an alert can be triggered when a hurricane in the region reaches a pre-specified category status. |
| |
Automatic weather alert targeting
Once the conditions that meet a facility’s definition of a threat are identified, the delivery mechanism immediately distributes the information to the appropriate emergency managers. They would then decide whether an emergency alert should be disseminated to all personnel s based on the threat. Alternatively, automatic triggering can also be set to invoke pre-defined scenarios and notify all personnel, without any human intervention. |
| |
Consistent message delivery across numerous communication channels
Personnel can be targeted with alerts providing critical information and response options across many communication channels and devices including PCs, cell phones, PDAs, pagers, BlackBerries, sirens and more. |
| |
Assured alert delivery and acknowledgement
Real-time dashboard shows detailed information including acknowledgements from every alerted recipient in order to provide an instantaneous picture of personnel status and accountability. |
