The U.S. Coast Guard's New Alert System, Based on Athoc's IWSAlerts Garners a 2010 Government Security News (GSN) Award
With the introduction of its new "network-centric" Alert and Warning System (AWS) 2.0, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has implemented a unified, emergency mass notification solution that can quickly alert 50,000 personnel via phone, SMS/text messages to mobile devices, e-mail and fax. AWS 2.0 was built on Athoc's IWSAlerts application, providing unifying architecture which allows deployment in a centralized data center. The judges in GSN's homeland security awards program have awarded the winner's trophy to the U.S. Coast Guard in the "Maritime/Seaport Security Program, Project or Agency" category.
