32-Year Veteran to Lead Growth into DHS and Federal Civilian Agencies
|
BURLINGAME, Ca. (August 3, 2007) AtHoc, Inc., the leader in
network-centric emergency notification systems, today announced the appointment of Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps
(Ret.) Rodney J. Wijas to direct AtHoc’s continued growth into the homeland security sector and related federal
civilian and public sector agencies. Wijas brings more than 32 years of experience in military command, control,
communications, computers and intelligence (C4I), federal communications and IT infrastructure sectors to AtHoc.
“The AtHoc team has been growing significantly as we’ve seen a dramatic increase in demand for our emergency notification offerings,” said Guy Miasnik, president and CEO of AtHoc. “As we target new opportunities in homeland security and federal civilian agencies, we will rely on Rod’s leadership to help build the right customer relationships and partnerships.”
Prior to joining the AtHoc team, Wijas directed the business development efforts for the Naval, Marine Corps and DISA joint customer base at Raytheon. Prior to that, he served as the Director, Communications, Command, and Control (C3) Directorate, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense. His 26 years of service in the Marine Corps included many leadership positions in program management, systems integration and systems management.
Wijas’ last active duty assignment was Assistant Chief of Staff G6, Marine Force Pacific C4I Systems and Information Resources, where he led the development, implementation and operational capability efforts for all voice, data, video and multimedia systems, including the Global Command and Control System (GCCS), Defense Message System (DMS) and the Global Broadcast Service (GBS).
“While in the military, certain technologies stood out as being critical in protecting our forces. Most people think of guns, guards and gates for protection, but more often than not, fast access to information is the most critical defense in saving lives,” stated Rodney Wijas, AtHoc’s director of operations. “AtHoc’s emergency notification system has a very real impact on promoting force protection, something that means a lot to me and to all current and former servicemen. I’m excited to join the team and look forward to expanding AtHoc’s role into new areas within the government.”
Wijas is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, and Bronze Star for Valor with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, South Vietnamese Gold, Silver, and Bronze Crosses of Gallantry, and the South Vietnamese Ranger Badge.
Wijas is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program, Information Resource Management College and the Program Management Course, Defense Systems Management College, both part of the National Defense University. Wijas received his undergraduate degree from California State University.
