Search Solution will provide new access method to valuable enterprise information using subscriptions and personalized alerts
|
BURLINGAME, CAJuly 21, 2004AtHoc, Inc. and IBM today announce that they are
partnering to extend the capabilities of IBM DB2 Information Integrator's enterprise
search capability, part of IBM's Project Masala currently in beta. AtHoc, a leader in
subscriptions and notifications technology, will provide the ability to add subscriptions
and notifications as a method of delivering updated information and search results.
AtHoc's capability expands access to valuable corporate information and resources
beyond the traditional querying and browsing methods. Users will be able to subscribe
to alerts on any topic in the existing corporate information taxonomy as well as
subscribe to user-defined queries. When new information matches the subscribed topic
or query, the user automatically gets notified and receives the results in email, web,
mobile device or desktop messaging channels.
For businesses that rely heavily on updated knowledge and time-sensitive
information to stay competitive, AtHoc's subscriptions and notifications
technology, combined with DB2 Information Integrator's enterprise search,
ensure that employees fully leverage the firm's information capital. As
examples, bankers monitoring market events, sales people tuning into
competitive information or consultants looking for the latest research
can now be notified pro-actively and immediately about any new and relevant
information based on their subscriptions.
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Boeing and eBay are some of the businesses who have
already deployed AtHoc. The subscriptions and notifications technology,
working in conjunction with enterprise search, makes information resources
that were typically hidden become more used through proactive notifications
to employees. As a direct result of AtHoc's technology, some of the enterprise
customers have reported that usage of business information resources by employees
increased by twelve-fold (12X).
"We are excited to work closely with IBM to ensure that customers maximize
the value of their information capital," states Ly Tran, Vice President of
Business Development of AtHoc. "As search becomes an infrastructure capability
for organizations, IBM and AtHoc share the belief that businesses will make
more and more demands from this infrastructure in order to address their
evolving needs. AtHoc is pleased to help customers to address their needs
for proactive access to information."
