AtHoc Wins the International Stevie Award for its Innovation in the Physical Security and Public Safety Market

AtHoc’s Network-Centric Approach to Mass Notification Led to its Selection in the Sixth Annual International Business Awards

SAN MATEO, Calif. (July 13, 2009) AtHoc, Inc., the pioneer and leader in network-centric emergency notification systems, today announced it has won an International Stevie Award for “Most Innovative Company of the Year in North America” in the 2009 International Business Awards for its innovation in the Physical Security and Public Safety market.

The International Business Awards are the only global, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in business. Nicknamed the Stevie® for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala dinner on Monday, September 14 in the St. Regis Hotel in New York City.

Recipients of International Stevie Award trophies were selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations and individuals in more than 30 countries. The International Business Awards feature more than 40 categories, from Multinational Company of the Year and Best New Product of the Year to Most Innovative Company of the Year and Executive of the Year.

“Our team has debuted 3rd generation mass notification, systems (MNS) that quickly and effectively alert thousands of people during an emergency,” said David Box, head of marketing for AtHoc. “AtHoc’s IWSAlerts™ is employed for force protection, personnel accountability, installation alerting, public safety and critical communications. This International Business Award recognizes our important work in protecting lives and property, and we are honored to receive the award recognizing our innovation in the field of physical security and public safety.”

Customers who already deployed a 1st generation MNS, such as sirens and PA systems, and who also may have used a 2nd generation hosted service for mass text messaging and phone calling, immediately experienced a lack of cohesiveness, increased complexity and long periods of time required to sign-in and operate all of these siloed capabilities in times of emergency.

As a result, AtHoc pioneered the use of the IP network as the most effective channel for disseminating alerts and managing the emergency notification process. AtHoc’s alert management capabilities unify and manage emergency notifications across all types of delivery channels and devices, including alerts to computers, desk phones, mobile phones, pagers, PDAs and e-mail. The Web-based system also integrates with sirens and public address systems as well as the national Emergency Alert System (EAS).

By creating a unified and redundant multichannel alerting system, emergency operators drastically reduce the time to disseminate alerts and provide a consistent message across all channels. With its enterprise capabilities, AtHoc IWSAlerts provides a management system that controls all capabilities across the underlying delivery systems from notification, scenarios, permissions, user contact information and alert tracking.

“Despite the harsh economic climate, entries to the IBAs actually grew a bit this year, and that illustrates the increasing importance of The International Business Awards worldwide,” said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevie Awards, presenters of the IBAs. “We congratulate all of the finalists and International Stevie Awards winners.”
